Churdhar Trek is located near Chandigarh in Himachal Pradesh. Churdhar peak is the highest peak of the outer Himalayan range situated at an altitude of 3655 meters. This peak is also known as Churi-Chandni-Dhar. It is named after Shri Chureshwar or Shirgul Maharaj, as the local people believe that he lived here in ancient times. Churdhar, considered holy due to its association with “Shri Chureshwar Maharaj”, is rich in local legends and temples for worship. The top offers an incredible, clear view of famous Himalayan peaks such as Kinner Kailash, Shrikhand Mahadev, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The first part of the journey is a steep hill, with the last few hours covered in moraines. The stunning Churdhar Wildlife Sanctuary is undoubtedly the highlight of this trek. The sanctuary is dotted with exquisite fauna like the Himalayan black bear, musk deer, Langoor, and many more.

For beginners, it can be a challenging task to complete a normal journey of 14-15 km in less time. We strongly recommend trekkers prepare themselves physically and mentally before this trek. Throughout the course, all groups will be guided by our experts with trekking equipment and any adjacent terrain. Any medical assistance required at any point in the journey shall be provided; However, trekkers must consult their professional care before starting any trek. We strongly advise trekkers to learn about altitude sickness and inform their teams as soon as any symptoms appear.

HOW TO REACH

It is close if you are coming from Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, or other parts of India. From Chandigarh take the Kalka-Shimla Highway and reach Solan. Buses are easily available from Sector 43-ISBT in Chandigarh. Get down as soon as you reach Solan Bypass Road. From here to D.C. Walk to Office, Solan (1 km) or hire an auto rickshaw. From there take a bus to Rajgarh. Take a direct bus from Rajgarh to Nohradhar. Or you can drive a bus or take a taxi to reach Nohradhar. You can take a bus to Solan and from there hire a taxi to reach Nohradhar.

NEAREST AIRPORT

Jubbarhatti Airport (23 km from Shimla). However, you may prefer Chandigarh or Dehradun airport as there are limited flights to Shimla. Taxis/buses are available everywhere in Nohradhar. Nohradhar also has a helipad.

NEAREST RAILHEAD

Shimla to Kalka narrow gauge railway line. The nearest railway station is Solan.
