The History

The story behind the temple is quite fascinating. A young man named Om Singh Rathore lived in a small village called Chotila (which is about 50 kilometers from Jodhpur) with his family. Om was an avid motorcyclist and loved riding his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. He would often go on long rides across the countryside, enjoying the freedom and thrill of the open road.

One fateful day, Om was riding his motorcycle on a deserted road when he lost control and crashed into a tree. The impact was so severe that Om died on the spot. And the police impounded his motorcycle.

The next day, to everyone’s surprise, the motorcycle was found back at the spot where Om had crashed. The police thought it was a prank and took it back to the station. But the same thing happened again the next day. The motorcycle was found back at the accident spot.

The Consequences

This strange incident baffled everyone, and people began to suspect that something supernatural was at play. The locals started to believe that the spirit of Om was protecting his beloved motorcycle.

Word of this mysterious incident soon spread, and people from neighbouring villages started to visit the site. They would offer flowers, incense, and other offerings to the motorcycle, hoping to appease the spirit of Om. Over time, the spot became a makeshift shrine. Eventually, people started to refer to it as the Bullet Baba Temple. It is unique as it is the only temple in the world where a motorcycle is worshipped.

As news of the temple spread, it started attracting more visitors. The temple became particularly popular among bikers, who saw the motorcycle as a symbol of freedom and adventure. Many bikers come to the temple before embarking on a long ride, seeking the deity’s blessings for a safe and enjoyable journey. Some say that the motorcycle has the power to protect people from accidents, and many bikers offer alcohol and cigarettes to the deity as a sign of respect. It is believed that the spirit of Om Singh Rathore loves alcohol and cigarettes. Similarly, offering them to the deity can bring good luck.

Visiting a foreign time zone might be thrilling, but it can also be exhausting and frustrating. When travelling over long distances, especially while traversing several time zones, jet lag is a typical problem that many individuals experience. Fatigue, trouble sleeping, headaches, and intestinal issues can all be caused by jet lag.

Jet Lag
Source: verywellhealth.com

There are, however, techniques to lessen the effects of jet lag and improve your vacation experience.
Here are some pointers for preventing jet lag.

Plan and adjust your trip ahead

Preparing your body for the time change before leaving home is one of the best methods to prevent jet lag. According to your direction, this involves altering your sleep schedule by progressively going to bed and getting up earlier or later. Also, you can modify your mealtimes to coincide with the time zone of your trip.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is crucial because dehydration can worsen jet lag symptoms.
Avoid caffeine and alcohol because they can cause you to become even more dehydrated and interfere with your sleep. Drink enough water.

Exercise regularly

Exercise can help your body clock reset and enhance the quality of your sleep.
Try to do some mild exercise before you go, and during the flight, go for a walk or do some light stretching. When you reach your destination, plan some time for physical activity or exercise.

Manage your exposure to light

Light is a powerful cue for your body’s internal clock, so managing your exposure to light is essential when travelling across time zones. If you’re travelling west, try to expose yourself to bright light in the evening. If you’re travelling east, try to expose yourself to bright light in the morning.

Take naps strategically

It’s crucial to nap if you want to use napping as a method to combat jet lag.
Consider taking quick naps for about 15-30 minutes.

Avoid heavy meals

A large lunch before or during travel can make you feel lethargic and raise your risk of experiencing jet lag. Avoid foods heavy in fat, sugar, or salt and stick to light, balanced meals, snacks, and fruits.
This can lower the likelihood of stomach issues while keeping your energy levels high.

Use sleep aids with caution

Although they may be alluring, sleep medications can worsen jet lag since they interfere with your regular sleep pattern. If you do decide to use sleep aids, make sure to do so just as instructed and with a doctor’s approval.

Include earplugs and a sleep mask in your bag

Even if your body isn’t ready, earplugs and a sleep mask can help you fall asleep.

Conclusion

Jet Lag
Source: npr.org

It is a common problem while travelling across different time zones. It is caused by disrupting the body’s natural circadian rhythm, which can lead to symptoms including fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and nausea. While it is not always possible to completely avoid jet lag, following these tips can help minimize its effects and make your trip more enjoyable.

In India and other areas of Asia, makhana, often referred to as fox nuts or lotus seeds, is a preferred snack food. It is made from the seeds of the lotus plant and contains a number of essential minerals, fibre, and protein.

The seeds from the lotus plant are first removed in order to manufacture the makhana snack, which are then sun-dried. The white, puffy kernel is then revealed by removing the outer shell. Thereafter, these kernels are roasted in a little ghee or oil while being seasoned with herbs and spices like cumin, turmeric, and salt.

Banana Chips

Home-cooked banana chips are a popular snack in many parts of the world, especially in South India. Unripe bananas are thinly sliced and deep-fried till crispy and golden brown to create these treats. To flavour the chips, season them with salt, chilli powder, or other herbs and spices.

Unripe bananas are first peeled and finely sliced using a sharp knife. The slices are then placed in water that contains a small amount of turmeric powder to avoid browning. The slices are drained and cloth-dried after soaking for a little while. Next, heated oil is used to deep-fry the dried banana slices until they are crispy and golden brown. Once cooked, chips are taken out of the pan and rinsed to remove extra oil on paper towels. Lastly, they are seasoned to taste with salt, chilli powder, or other seasonings.

Homemade banana chips are a healthy alternative to store-bought potato chips since they are high in fibre and potassium while being low in calories and fat. They make a very quick snack to kill hunger since they can be kept fresh for several days in an airtight container.
